ABOUT THE ARTIST
Eliora Vell (b. 1982) is an American artist whose layered works move between landscape and abstraction. Beginning with observational drawings made in gardens and public spaces, Vell repeatedly enlarges, fragments and reworks natural forms before returning them to the hand.
Her practice explores how a single image can hold endless possibilities and how one subject can be observed, dismantled and understood in many different ways. Flowers, branches and foliage accumulate into dense systems of marks: part garden, part memory and part imagined environment.
Through a process she calls the Regressive Scribble Technique, Vell brings careful study into conversation with intuitive gesture. Each transformation becomes the foundation for the next, culminating in a handmade work that preserves the evidence, energy and imperfection of its making.
